Need home repairs? Sanford homeowners can apply for up to $30,000 in assistance

Pre-applications close October 16. Here’s who qualifies and how to get started.

A leaking roof, failing air conditioner or plumbing problem can put a major strain on a household budget. Sanford homeowners who meet the city’s eligibility requirements can now apply for up to $30,000 in home-repair assistancethrough its Community Development Block Grant Housing & Rehabilitation Program.

The program provides grants for necessary repairs that address safety concerns and improve living conditions. Assistance can cover up to two approved trade categories, such as roofing and electrical work. City program details

To qualify, applicants must own and occupy a home within Sanford city limits as their primary residence for at least two years, have a homestead exemption and meet the household income limit. Property taxes and any mortgage payments must be current, and the property cannot be in foreclosure.

The city also requires homeowners insurance or a cancellation letter, no city housing rehabilitation assistance within the past three years, and no pending or duplicate FEMA assistance for the same repairs. A Sanford mailing address alone does not establish that a property is within city limits. Eligibility requirements

The city lists these maximum annual household incomes for 2026:
